CAIRO - 22 July 2022: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed to his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, the need that the door remains open for dialogue and diplomatic solutions between parties of the Ukraine crisis.

This came as the two leaders held a meeting in Paris, during which they discussed the hard economic situation that has resulted from the crisis in Ukraine, particularly that linked with food and energy security across the world, the Egyptian Presidency said in a statement.

They also discussed the unprecedented negative effects that the Ukrainian crisis has caused for international markets.

Sisi and Macron affirmed the need that the international actors act responsibly to find practical solutions and mechanisms to ease the impacts of the crisis on the most affected states, the statement said.

Sisi said Egypt is keen to endorse and deepen the strategic partnership extending with France, affirming that this partnership constitutes an important pillar for security and stability in Middle East, East Mediterranean as well as the African continent.

Macron affirmed France’s appreciation for Egypt on the official and popular levels and for the historical ties between the two friendly countries, the statement said.

Macron also reaffirmed his country’s support to the track of joint bilateral relations with Egypt in all fields in a constructive way, praising Sisi’s efforts in protecting security and stability in the region.

Sisi affirmed Egypt’s aspiration to boost coordination and consultations with the French side during the coming period on the various political, security, and economic files of joint interest, the statement said.

Sisi and Macron discussed the Palestinian issue and ways of reviving the peace talks as well as the crises in Libya, Syria, Lebanon, and the East Mediterranean region.

Sisi affirmed that the political solutions are the only way to resolve the regional crises in order to protect the crisis-affected countries’ national institutions and territorial integrity and lay the basis for fighting and besieging the terrorist groups.

On his part, Macron expressed France's aspiration to intensify joint coordination with Egypt on Middle East issues in light of the Egyptian political weight in its regional environment, praising Egypt's efforts to support efforts to reach political solutions to the existing crises.

Concerning the Palestinian cause, Sisi affirmed Egypt's firm position regarding reaching a just and comprehensive solution that guarantees the rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of their independent state in accordance with international references.

Macron expressed his country's great appreciation towards the relevant Egyptian efforts whether between the Palestinians and the Israelis or inside the Palestinian territories, including the efforts of Gaza reconstruction.

Macron expressed his aspiration to continue consultations with Egypt in this regard.

The leaders also discussed Egypt’s scheduled hosting of the global climate conference (COP27) in November in Sharm El Sheikh and efforts made to coordinate international work in this regard to ensure a positive outcome for the conference.
