CAIRO – 19 July 2022: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is heading to Serbia’s capital, Belgrade, on Tuesday as he concluded his official visit to Germany, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said.

Sisi’s visit will see intensive discussions with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and a meeting with the Serbian Parliament speaker to discuss means of enhancing political and economic relations.

The talks will also review means of cooperation and coordination on the regional and international levels, Radi said.

Sisi will hold intensive activities during the visit, on top of which is delivering a speech at the University of Belgrade, which will focus on bilateral relations between Egypt and Serbia and means of boosting them.

Sisi’s speech will also include a review of the determinants of the Egyptian policy towards the most important current regional and international issues.

The visit, the first of its kind, comes within the framework of the historical relations between the two countries, Radi added.

Egyptian Ambassador to Serbia Bassel Salah said Sisi’s visit to Belgrade is the first by an Egyptian president in 35 years.

In press remarks, Salah said the Serbian side attaches great and special importance to Sisi’s visit as it represents a launch for growing cooperation between the two countries in all fields during the coming period.

Sisi’s visit will also include holding a forum for businessmen in Egypt and Serbia with the attendance of a large number of investors from both sides to discuss boosting trade between the two countries and implementing joint projects, Salah added.

Sisi concluded his visit to Berlin after participating in the Petersburg Climate Dialogue, which comes ahead of the international climate conference (COP27) set to be held in Egypt in November, and meeting with top German officials.

Sisi also participated in a roundtable meeting with representatives of the German business community and heads of giant German industrial companies.

During the roundtable meeting, Sisi affirmed Egypt’s keenness during the coming period to continue developing economic and commercial relations with the German companies and business community.
