Earlier this month, Upper Egypt saw another deadly accident when a bus collided into a truck on Aswan-Abu Simbel Road, killing nine people and wounding 44 others.

Aswan governorate’s health authorities dispatched more than 20 ambulances to the scene and the injured people were moved to the hospital for treatment.

A car crash in Aswan last month also killed two people and wounded eight others on Edfu-Marsa Alam Road.

This comes while Egypt has seen a decline in the number of road accidents over the recent years in light of the national efforts to develop the country’s road network.

According to the statistical agency (CAPMAS), Egypt saw a decline in injuries and deaths due to road accidents by almost 29 percent and 9 percent respectively in 2020 compared to 2019.
