CAIRO – 10 June 2022: Cairo International Airport would start receiving Egyptian pilgrims coming from Saudi Arabia’s Mecca and Madina on Tuesday, officials at the airport told Youm7 on Sunday.

A state of alert was declared at the airport to provide all the necessary facilities for pilgrims upon their return to the homeland after Hajj performing. The authorities would facilitate the access of the pilgrims’ relatives to the arrival terminals.

The airport authorities would take all necessary measures for the elderly and people with disabilities. Working groups of public relations staff were formed to help pilgrims complete their arrival procedures.

Additionally, an air-conditioned tent was built in front of the arrival terminal for the pilgrims’ relatives.

On June 24, 2022, the State-owned EgyptAir launched its air bridge to transport the Egyptian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the 2022 Hajj season.

Saudi Arabia has allocated the quota of pilgrims for each country, with a decrease of 45.2 percent of the pre-covid19 quota. Egypt’s this year quota was estimated at 35,357 pilgrims during the 2022 Hajj season.
