Egyptian PM urges activating crisis chambers, tightening security nationwide on Eid Al-Adha

CAIRO – 8 July 2022: Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed to governors on Thursday the need to activate crisis chambers in all governorates throughout the Eid Al-Adha holiday, which extends from Saturday to Thursday.

In a meeting with the governors and  Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawi, Madbouly urged the crisis chambers to coordinate with the Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center to deal with any possible incidents swiftly and take the required measures on them.

Madbouly also affirmed the necessity to tighten security presence, especially in the coastal governorates that are crowded during the eid time.

He also called for taking the possible measures to ensure smooth traffic movement and face the violations that lead to road accidents.

Madbouly stressed the need for citizens’ abidance by the precautionary measures against coronavirus, especially in crowded places, such as public parks and beaches and the transportation means.

Madbouly stressed intensifying campaigns at markets to ensure the availability of basic commodities for citizens in local markets.

Earlier this week, Acting Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar has directed to put all hospitals on high alert during Eid Al-Adha and ensure coordination between the ministry’s affiliated and university hospitals during the holy occasion.

In a weekly meeting for the ministry, Abdel Ghaffar said that medical teams have been formed nationwide to deal with any contingencies that may occur during the vacation.

He asserted that ambulances equipped with oxygen and medical supplies are spread across desert and coastal roads to serve all citizens everywhere.

He also gave directives to intensify campaigns and increase the number of nurses and medical staffers to ensure providing the best health services for citizens during this holy occasion.

Egypt is preparing to celebrate Eid Al-Adha starting Saturday.

The National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) has said that Eid Al-Adha prayers will be held at 5:26 a.m. in Cairo and Giza.

In Alexandria and Beni Suef, the prayers are set to take place at 5:28 a.m., NRIAG said in a statement.

Based on astronomical calculations, the Eid prayers will first be held in the cities of Taba and Arish at 5:13 a.m., the statement said.

Residents of the west border city of Salloum will be last to perform the prayers at 5:47 a.m., the statement added.
