CAIRO - 30 June 2022: The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population said that the presidential initiative for early detection of Hepatitis C at schools has examined 11,635,676 students so far.
 
For his part, Dr. Muhammad Dahi, Chairman of the General Authority for Health Insurance, said that the work of the initiative includes conducting examinations for students inside schools using rapid reagents.
 
According to Dahi, a total of 419 medical teams, affiliated with the General Authority for Health Insurance, carried out the tests.
 
Dr. Heba Saeed, the general coordinator of the initiative at the General Authority for Health Insurance, confirmed that the necessary analyzes and examinations were conducted, and treatment was given free of charge for cases that tested positive to Virus C. 
 
As soon as the infection was confirmed, the cases were referred to liver committees, that are located in all branches of the General Authority for Health Insurance across governorates of the Republic.
