CAIRO – 29 June 2022: Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa witnessed on Wednesday the singing of cooperation agreements and MoUs in various fields, including investments.

According to a statement by Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady, the agreements and MoUs signed include fields of economic, scientific, and technological cooperation as well as investments and boosting exports.

In addition, the agreements include fields of legal and judicial cooperation, holding exhibitions, protecting environment, education, and air and maritime shipping.

Sisi met on Wednesday with King Hamad in Al-Sakhir Palace and also held a meeting with Prince Salman bin Hamad.

The keenness of the Egyptian and Bahraini leaderships to develop cooperation in the economic and investment sectors as well as trade has been reflected on the significant rise in investments between the two countries, Egyptian Ambassador to Manama Yasser Shaaban said.

In remarks to Bahrain News Agency (BNA), Shaaban said the current visit of President Sisi to Bahrain and his meeting with King Hamad come within the framework of the continuous visits between the two countries aimed at boosting consultations and bilateral relations.

The visit also comes in continuation of the recent visit by King Hamad to Sharm El-Sheikh city, where he discussed with President Sisi developments in the Arab region and the Middle East, the ambassador said.

They also discussed intensifying efforts and consolidating a unified Arab stance toward files of joint priority, on top of which is stability in the region, the continuation of a balanced diplomatic approach, and protection of national security, energy security, and food security, he added.

Shaaban hailed the historic relations between the two countries, thanking King Hamad and Bahrain’s Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, the crown prince and prime minister, for providing all forms of support and care to the Egyptian community in Bahrain.

Shaaban’s remarks come while Sisi has started an official visit to Bahrain on Tuesday, where he was received by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Sisi’s visit comes as part of a Gulf tour that included Oman earlier this week.

Sisi met on Wednesday with King Hamad in Al-Sakhir Palace and also held a meeting with Prince Salman bin Hamad.

During his meeting with Prince Salman, Sisi hailed the Egyptian-Bahraini cooperation and coordination as a main pillar of regional stability and highlighted Egypt’s keenness to develop cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

Prince Salman hailed the relations between Egypt and Bahrain and also praised the role played by the Egyptian community in Bahrain in the process of development and construction.

The prince affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to develop cooperation with Egypt at various levels and to hold period consultations between the two countries on various issues.
