Highlights: Egypt’s Senate approves 9 legislations during its 2nd round of sessions

CAIRO – 29 June 2022: Egypt’s Senate has approved during its second session of convening nine legislations.

 

According to the Egyptian constitution, Articles 248 and 249 defined the roles and the authority of the senate, and stipulating that its opinion shall be taken for proposals for amendments of one or more articles of the constitution, drafting general for social and economic development, and treaties of reconciliation and alliance.

 

The Senate also drafts laws supplementing the constitution as well as matters regarding the general policy of the state, as referred to the Senate by the president of the republic.

 

In the below lines, et highlights the draft laws that were approved by the senate:

 

1- A draft law regulating access to biological resources and the equitable sharing of benefits arising from their uses.

 

2- A draft law to issue a general planning law for the state.

 

3- A draft law promulgating the law for the care of the rights of the elderly.

 

4- A draft law to issue a labor law.

 

5- A draft law to issue the unified insurance law.

 

6- A draft law on extending the reconciliation of the conditions stipulated in the law regulating the practice of civil work promulgated by Law No. 149 of 2019.

 

7- A draft law amending some provisions of Law No. 200 of 2020 promulgating a law establishing a fund to establish a fund for people with disabilities.

 

8- A draft law approving the economic and social development plan for the fiscal year 2022/2023 and the general visas accompanying it.

 

9- A draft law amending some provisions of the Sports Law promulgated by Law No. 71 of 2017.
