CAIRO – 27 June 2022: Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi expressed his deepest condolences to Jordanian King Abdullah II Bin Al Hussein and the Jordanian people for the victims of the gas tanker explosion accident in the port of Aqaba, said the Egyptian Presidency in a statement on Monday.

President Sisi wished the injured a speedy recovery.

Twelve people were killed and 260 others were injured when a crane failed to place a gas tanker on a ship at the port and then dropped it away in the midway causing a big explosion and a leakage of poisonous gas, Petra news agency reported on Monday.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday evening extended its sincere condolences and sympathy to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for the victims of a gas tanker explosion accident in the port of Aqaba.

“Egypt, the government and people, expresses its sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to all the injured, stressing its standing by the government and people of Jordan in this painful affliction,” the statement read.
