Egypt’s Public Prosecution initiate investigating Talkha, Cairo Tower suicide incidents

CAIRO – 21 June 2022: Egypt’s Public Prosecution started investigating the two young men incidents who committed suicide in Talkha city, Dakahlia governorate and Cairo Tower on Monday, 20 June.

The initial investigations indicated that the two young men were going through hard financial circumstances and family disputes that affected them and lead them to commit a suicide.

Regarding Talkha city incident, the statement said that the Public Prosecution received a notification from the police in the early hours of Tuesday regarding the death of a young man after he fell while driving his car from the top of the university bridge in Talkha City.

The authorities moved to the scene of the incident to inspect it. They listened to the statements of four of the deceased relatives and one of his acquaintances.

The Public Prosecution concluded that, the deceased experienced psychological distress as a result of family disputes, which is the reason for his suicide.

Regarding the Cairo Tower incident, the Prosecution statement explained that the deceased was going through hard financial circumstances and pressures that affected him, and the persistence of disputes between him and his two brothers who were helping him financially.

On the day of the incident, the statement read, the deceased went to the Cairo Tower building and rolled it alone and climbed to its top and was accompanied by a security personnel at the time, and when he was asked him to leave because the time, he went towards the fence and jumped from the top of the tower, as the security personnel did not catch up with him at the time.
