CAIRO – 20 June 2022: The Egyptian Armed Forces issued Sunday a statement displaying the outcomes of operations carried out by both the Border Guards Force and the police to foil attempts of drug trafficking.

The operations resulted in disposing of the harvest of 145 feddans (one feddans equals 4,500 square meters) that were cultivated with cannabis, as well as large quantities of hydro drug grown on 59 feddans in valleys located in the middle of the desert.

As for the drugs confiscated before circulation, the forces seized four tons of dry cannabis, 107 kilograms of hash, and 700 kilograms of psychoactive plant seeds. The forces also discovered two factories that process drugs as well as a weed press.

The outcome of checking vehicles crossing borders is 1.5 tons of hash hidden in a loader, and 20 packs of hydro drug weighing eight kilograms. Further, checks on the western borders revealed smuggling attempts of 800,000 drug pills, two shotguns, and 43.5 kilograms of silver jewellery.
