CAIRO – 13 June 2022: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi sent a cable Monday to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, greeting him on the occasion of Russia Day marking June 12, and also delegated a representative to extend greetings to the Russian Embassy in Cairo.

 

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi held a phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in May, exchanging views on the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, whereas the Egyptian chief of state asserted the importance of prioritizing dialogue.

 

President Sisi also stressed backing diplomatic endeavors aimed at devising a political settlement to the crisis, which would in turn preserve international peace and security.

 

In a related context, the president thanked President Putin for paving the way for the evacuation of Egyptian citizens from Ukraine, as stated by Presidency Spokesperson Ambassador Bassam Rady.

 

Equally, the two presidents discussed cooperation in developmental projects, affirming that Egypt and Russia have historic strong ties and that they have friendship relations on the official and popular scales.
