CAIRO – 12 June 2022: Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine al-Qabbaj met with Interim Lebanese Prime Minister Naguib Miqati asserting Egypt's full backing to Lebanon upon the directives of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, expressing readiness to facilitate support from the Egyptian civil society to the Lebanese one through the Council of Arab Ministers for Social Affairs.

Qabaj visited the Lebanese capital, Beirut, within the delegation of the executive bureau of the council, as the purpose was setting targets pertaining to guaranteeing social safety, extending safety networks, and achieving economic empowerment to set off production.

The minister also presented Egypt's experience with delivering programs and initiatives to vulnerable social segments. She further invited Lebanese artisans, through the Lebanese Ministry of Social Affairs, to display their products at a fair that will be held in Cairo later this year, in either September or October.

Minister Qabaj pointed out that the elderly have been subject to unintentional negligence in the Arab World, and that Arab countries must work on offering them with the necessary services and encouraging them to volunteer for charity works.

The minister noted that Egypt has promulgated a legal bill for the elderly, and that Jordan is articulating a strategy to deal with their affairs.
