CAIRO – 10 June 2022: The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has advised people to avoid direct sunlight as the peak of heatwave is expected on Saturday.

The EMA advices people to take many cold drinks and wear loose and light-colored clothes as well as sun protection hats.

The EMA expects the peak of heatwave on Saturday to reach highs of more than 40 degree Celsius in the majority of areas nationwide and up to 45 degrees Celsius in southern Upper Egypt.

In Cairo and northern Upper Egypt, weather is expected to reach 43 degrees Celsius.

The difference between the declared and perceived temperatures will become evident during the coming period, the EMA warns.

This is due to the increase in humidity resulting from the extension of the seasonal India depression and its impact on Egypt with the start of the summer season.
