CAIRO – 9 June 2022: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry expected to receive, on Thursday, his Tanzanian counterpart Librata Mula Mula in Cairo. A joint press conference expected to take place after their meeting.

Last week, Shoukry asserted Egypt's keenness to continue providing support to Tanzania in various fields during a video call the minister made with his Tanzanian to discuss various aspects of bilateral relations and other issues of common concern.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said Shoukry stressed Egypt's support to the various development efforts in Tanzania including Egyptian projects in the country as well as exploring opportunities for more Egyptian investments to enter the various Tanzanian economic sectors.

Shoukry referred during the call to the historical Egyptian-Tanzanian relations, highlighting their steady development in recent years in light of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's visit to Dar es-Salaam in August 2017, and the visit of President Samia Hassan to Cairo in November 2021.

The two ministers agreed to continue to activate meetings of the joint committee to enhance bilateral cooperation in all fields, he added.

Shoukri noted Egypt's hosting and presidency of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) in Sharm El Sheikh in November, explaining that the Egyptian presidency of the Conference is keen that the conference addresses African concerns pertaining to climate change. Egypt is also looking forward to the highest level Tanzanian participation in the conference activities, the spokesman said.
