Egypt’s political will supports empowering women in various fields: Maya Morsi

CAIRO – 7 June 2022: The Head of the National Council for Women, Dr. Maya Morsi, expressed her happiness with the participation of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in launching the five-year program for the economic and social empowerment of women, worth $39 million.

 

Morsi said that this program comes within the framework of cooperation between the Egyptian and American government and seeks to empower women.

 

She pointed out that the three axes in which the program operates are very important, which is what Egypt started through the Women Empowerment Strategy 2030.

 

She added that the program is support by a strong political will to work effectively in order to empower women in various fields.

 

Dr. Maya Morsi spoke about violence against women, as it represents a global epidemic that exists in all countries of the world, which “necessitates us to adopt a comprehensive approach to confront violence against women.”

 

She added, "We are committed to changing lives for the benefit of Egyptians in general and the Egyptian women in particular, through many initiatives that are in the interest of Egyptian women."
