CAIRO – 31 May 2022: Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Manar said Egyptian scientists, at home and abroad, are a source of pride, representing Egypt's soft power in all areas.

Manar was speaking during a meeting with Hany Mostafa, a pioneer designer of aircraft engines, Director of the Coalition of Canadian Universities for the Fifth Industrial Revolution, and an expert on global aviation, who is currently visiting Egypt to participate in the 6th edition of "Egypt Can by Industry" Conference, scheduled for May 31- June 1.

Mostafa is currently Senior Research Fellow for Pratt & Whitney, a designer and manufacturer of engines and auxiliary power units for industrial applications, and a member of Aéro Montréal’s Chantier Innovation and Chantier Relève et Main-d’oeuvre.

A delegation from Germany's Siemens Industrial LLC, including Senior Executive Vice President of Digital industries Wael Omar, attended the meeting.

Manar emphasized the importance of making the optimum use of the expertise of Egyptian scientists to bring about comprehensive development in all domains, especially digital transformation and applications of the 5th Industrial Revolution (5IR).

He also underscored the need to capitalize on the major technological developments in the aviation industry in order to mechanize and digitize aviation training and activities, while making use of Siemens' expertise to modernize airport service system to step into the age of smart airports.

Welcoming further cooperation between the company and EgyptAir Training Academy, Manar said the ministry is a staunch supporter of digital transformation and industrial revolution applications for the advancement of the national aviation industry, in line with the Egypt Vision 2030 for sustainable development.

Meanwhile, Mostafa said that, against all odds, the Egyptian aviation system has seen remarkable progress recently.
