CAIRO – 30 May 2022: Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark Holiness received on Monday P Polish President Andrzej Duda and his wife, Agata Kornhauser-Duda at the papal headquarters in St. Mark's Cathedral in Abbasiya.

 

In his speech with the Polish delegation, Pope Tawadros II said that Egypt has a long history and is rich in Pharaonic, Coptic, Greek, Roman, Islamic, Arab, and African civilizations.

 

“Over 3 years, the Holy Family blessed Egypt from north to south and from east to west, so that we, its people, preserve this blessing until now in many places on our dear land,” the Pope said.

 

He also called the Polish President and the First Lay for having a tour of Coptic monasteries.

 

Pope Tawadros also praised Poland as one of the countries that care about humanitarian issues, such as rejecting abortion and preserving and defending the environment.

 

Poland participated in saving Egypt’s antiquities during the salvage process of the monuments of Nubia, Pope Tawadros II said.

 

The Pope concluded his speech by praying for the world, wishing it peace and an end to wars.

 

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and First Lady Entissar Amer received on Monday Polish President Andrzej Duda and his wife, Agata Kornhauser-Duda, in the presidential palace in Cairo.

 

Polish President Andrzej Duda said he discussed with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi the possibility that Poland imports liquified natural gas (LNG) from Egypt.

 

In a press conference with Sisi in Cairo on Monday, Duda affirmed his country’s support for all negotiations aiming to export Egyptian natural gas to the EU.
