Capacity of Egypt's Cairo International Airport spikes by almost sixfold over 60 years

CAIRO – 18 May 2022: Chairman of the Holding Company for Airports Mohamed Said Mahrous stated in a speech Wednesday on the occasion of the 59 anniversary of Cairo International Airport that since 1963 until present, the annual capacity of the airport rose from five million passengers to 28 million.

 

Cairo International Airport transports more than 37,000 passengers on around 309 flights to several international and domestic destinations per day.

 

According to sources at the airport, 154 flights leave Cairo Airport carrying 19,257 international destinations, including New York, London, Paris, Istanbul, Al Kuwait, Vienna, Addis Ababa, Rome, Frankfurt, Berlin, Amsterdam, Budapest, Zurich, Baghdad, Milan, Larnaca, N’Djamena, Muscat, Lagos, Abuja, Huanzo, Beirut, Abu Dhabi, Erbil, Dubai, Sharjah, Bahrain, Kano, Athens, Jeddah. City Dammam, Riyadh, Ras Al Khaimah, Amman, Nairobi, Douala, Doha, Baghdad.

 

On the other hand, the airport receives 155 flights carrying 17,848 from several different international destinations. 

 

The Cairo International Airport authorities are taking all the precautionary measures taken to confront the outbreak of the Corona virus, and they are applying all precautionary and preventive measures in accordance with the instructions of the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health. 

 

Airport authorities stress they abide by precautionary measures to ensure the safety of travelers and arrivals, by reducing congestion. 

 

The social distances stipulated within the travel and arrival halls are also taken into account, and the wearing of masks inside all halls is taken into account as part of the state’s plan to combat the spread of the new Corona virus.
