CAIRO – 13 July 2017: The National Security Agency almost dismantled the terrorist group Hasm, the armed branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. The agency affiliated with the Ministry of Interior targeted the masterminds behind terror attacks and assassinations.

Among those killed in fire exchange are the three leaders responsible for assassinations list, logistics support for militants and suicide bombers, and recruitment of youth to be trained in desert camps.

A 36-year-old group member was shot dead in a rented apartment in a poor Cairo suburb called Marg by police in an exchange of fire. He had a rifle, 9mm pistol, and a shot gun in addition to a huge quantity of ammunitions and void shots.

That militant is initially from Fashn town in Asyut Governorate and conducted many assassinations.

The militant is implicated in the assassination of three policemen and two officers, the injury of two policemen, and the assassination attempt of a policeman.

Among those responsible for providing logistics support are a 28-year-old militant from Basarta village in Damietta governorate and a 22-year-old militant from Fayoum Governorate.

Both were key members of the group and were killed by police during arrest attempts. Basarta is considered the stronghold of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood in Damietta governorate.

Fayoum governorate has been notorious as well of having a big number of Islamists. The 22-year-old suicide bomber Mahmoud Shafik Mohamed Mostafa who targeted the Orthodox Cathedral on December 12, 2016 during prayers and who joined terrorist groups in North Sinai was also from Fayoum.

Intelligence agencies got information that both terrorists used to show up on Dahshour Road near 6 October City. On the day of their killing, security forces detected them on a motorcycle, as the police got closer, they fired at the forces, which has incurred their death.

The same scenario was repeated with the recruitment leader, but on the provincial Senouras road in Fayoum Governorate.

That road was used by group members responsible for recruitment so that police have set checkpoints to arrest them.

The forces found a four-wheel drive car and a motorcycle pulling over to the side of the road. The arrest attempt resulted in the death of the recruitment leader, and the fleeing of two others leaving the vehicles behind.

Weapons seized included CZ pistol, two pistol magazine loaders, and 93 9mm bullets, in addition to foreign and local currencies.
