CAIRO – 10 May 2022: Egypt’s Mineral Resources Law punishes licensee who extracts mineral resources from mines, quarries or Salinas that are outside the limits of his license with a fine of no less than L.E. 100,000 and not exceeding L.E. 5 million.

 

In case the violation is repeated, the minimum fine shall be doubled.

 

The violator who carries quarry materials from unlicensed quarries shall face imprisonment for a period of  no less than 3 months and not more than 6 months, and fine equivalent to twice the value of the stone material, or one of these two penalties.

 

The Egyptian General Authority for Mineral Resources or the competent authority, as the case may be, is in charge of issuing licenses for ores related to mines, quarries and salinas, and the work of searching and exploiting them, provided that the license is approved by the competent authority, after fulfilling the technical conditions determined by the authority, as stipulated in the executive regulations of the Mineral Resources Law.

 

Law No. 145 of 2019 amends some provisions of the Mineral Resources Law aims to establish clear controls for the exploitation of Egypt’s mineral wealth from quarries, mines and saltwaters to allow optimal exploitation of this natural resource, while ensuring the greatest possible return for the benefit of the national income.
