CAIRO - 7 May 2022: The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population announced Saturday that the average number of daily infections with the Corona virus reached eight, during the past week, as part of the necessary monitoring conducted by the ministry according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The ministry stated that the average daily death amounts to 4 new cases.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that the average daily number of people recovering from the Corona virus reached 20 cases, after receiving the necessary medical care and completing their recovery according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization.

This brings the total number of people recovering from the Corona virus so far 445,282 recoverers.

He stressed that, according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization issued on May 27, 2020, the disappearance of symptoms for a period of 10 days from infection is an indicator of the patient's recovery from the Corona virus.

It is reported that the number of people who have received vaccines against the Corona virus has reached 34 million, 508 thousand and 460 who are fully immunized so far. The ministry calls on citizens to register on the ministry’s website https://egcovac.mohp.gov.eg/#/registration to receive virus vaccines, to protect all family members from severe infections with the Corona virus and its variants.

Egypt spares no effort in providing vaccines to citizens for free, within the framework of the ministry’s keenness on the public health of citizens and the state’s gains in addressing the pandemic.

The Ministry of Health and Population continues to raise its preparations in all governorates of the Republic, follow up on the situation first-hand regarding the “emerging corona virus”, and take all necessary preventive measures against any viruses or infectious diseases.

The ministry has allocated a number of means of communication to receive citizens’ inquiries about the emerging corona virus and infectious diseases. Including the hotline “105”, “15335” and the WhatsApp number “01553105105”, in addition to the “Health Egypt” application available on phones.
