Egypt offers condolences to Japan, Lebanon for victims of two capsized boats

CAIRO – 24 April 2022: Egypt expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to Japan for the victims a tourist boat that sank off the north coast of the prefecture of Hokkaido, which resulted in killing ten people and missing other persons so far.
 
Egypt also extended its sincere condolences to the families of the victims, and affirms its solidarity with the government and people of Japan in this painful circumstance.
 
According to the national broadcaster NHK, the boat was carrying 26 people and crew members, including two children. 
 
In another statement, Egypt offered its sincere condolences and sincere sympathy to Lebanese people, and to the families of the victims of the boat that sank off the coast of the Lebanese city of Tripoli, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said on Sunday. 
 
The Lebanese army received five people after the boat that was carrying 60 people sank off the coast of Tripoli, while the search operations are currently continuing for missing people.
 
“Egypt affirms its support for Lebanon in this painful incident, wishing a speedy recovery for the survivors and the injured, stressing at the same time the need for concerted efforts by the international community to put an end to the phenomenon of illegal immigration boats,” the statement said.
