Higher education minister receives report on L’Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science Egypt Young program

CAIRO - 23 April 2022: Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman of the Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO Khaled Abdel Ghaffar received on Friday a report presented by Secretary-General of the Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO Ghada Abdelbary about submitting applications for L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Egypt Young talents program.


The program identifies and rewards talented young female scientists in the field of Life Sciences (such as biology, biochemistry, biophysics, genetics, physiology, neurosciences, biotechnologies, ecology, and ethology) as well as Physical Sciences (such as physics, chemistry, petroleum engineering, mathematics, engineering sciences, information sciences, Earth and Universe sciences).

It is set to honor three talented young Egyptian women researchers for the quality of their research works and also for encouraging them to pursue a brilliant career in science, according to the report.

Two fellowships amounting to €10,000 or equivalent in local currency each will be granted to Egyptian women pursuing post-doctoral researchers working in research laboratories, institutes, or universities in Egypt, it said.

One fellowship amounting to €6,000 or equivalent in local currency will be granted to Egyptian women pursuing a Ph.D. (doctoral degree) in the research laboratory, institute, or university in Egypt, it added.

The report noted that the closing date for application is July 30, 2022.
