CAIRO – 2 April 2022: Private tuition will not be beneficial to students in Thanaweya Amma tests beginning June 11, 2022, whether they will be internet or paper-based, official sources at the Ministry of Education told Youm7 Thursday.

Thanaweya Amma is the high school national exam system that has been plagued with private tuition for decades. Private tuition, which is not by any means for students who are sturggling, is a major business for teachers, and the demand is so huge that the number of students in a private class may reach 60, signaling the failure the educational system. Meanwhile, the government has recently demanded that teachers pay taxes for their informal work.

Minister of Education Tarek Shawki has attempted in recent years to reform education, but every change is strongly resisted by parents who have been accustomed to the old system for many years.

Today, the sources say that the kind of questions and the evaluation will be different, and that students should rely on various sources of learning such as the Knowledge Bank and other learning platforms.
