President Sisi receives phone call from UK PM Johnson, lauded relations between both countries

CAIRO –28 March2022: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call, Monday from UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson as they discussed relations between both countries.

Sisi lauded high-level relations between Egypt and the UK in all fields and voiced Egypt's desire to further increase cooperation and coordinate stances between the two countries during the coming period in light of current challenges at the regional and international levels.

Sisi encouraged British companies to engage in Egypt's development projects in all areas and double the volume of their investments in the country, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.

Johnson, for his part, said his country is keen on boosting relations with Egypt at the economic and trade levels.

Egypt is one of the most important partners for the UK in the Middle East and Africa, he added.

The talks also tacked the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and the coming COP27 conference, which will be held in Sharm el Sheikh in November.
