EMA expects rainfall, sandstorm in many areas in Egypt including Greater Cairo Thursday

CAIRO – 24 March 2022; The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has forecast moderate rainfall and thunderstorm on northern coasts and northern Lower Egypt on Thursday.

The EMA also expects on Thursday mild to moderate rainfall on southern Lower Egypt, which may extend to Greater Cairo and the Canal cities.

According to the EMA, sandstorms may hit southern Egypt, Sinai and areas in Greater Cairo and Lower Egypt on Thursday.

On Friday, winds may blow over northern coasts, South Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt. Also, mild to moderate rains are expected on northern coasts and northern Upper Egypt on that day, the EMA said.

Bad weather conditions have forced the northern governorates of Alexandria and Beheira to announce suspending school classes on Thursday.

“According to EMA’s reports that confirms the continuation of bad weather, Major General Mohamed Al-Sharif, the governor of Alexandria, announced the continued suspension of classes tomorrow, Thursday, March 24, 2022,” Alexandria governorate said on its official Facebook page.

The decision applies to students and teachers in public and private schools and Al-Azhar institutes, the governorate said, while leading officials are excluded from the decision.

The governorate will also continue to grant employees with special needs and employees who take care of children under 12 years of age an exceptional day off on Thursday.
