FM expresses Egypt's interest in holding consultations with Singapore

CAIRO – 17 March 2022: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry met Thursday with his Singaporean counterpart Vivian Balakrishnan expressing Egypt's interest in broadening relations with the Asian state, and holding consultations over issues of mutual concern.

 

The talks took place over a business breakfast hosted by Minister Balakrishnan as they exchanged views over a number of regional and international matters.

 

 

Minister Shokry, who is president-designate of COP27 to be hosted by Egypt in Sharm El Sheikh next November, also met with Singaporean Minister of Sustainability and Environment Grace Fu conferring over climate topics prioritized by both countries. They also examined ways of coordination over climate work in the coming period.

 

 

The last meeting for Thursday was that with Singaporean Minister of Social and Family Development Masagos Zulkifli. Over a business lunch, the two ministers mulled over possible channels of cultural and religious cooperation.

 

In a related context, Minister Shokry presented Egypt's work in the realm of social development.

 

 

The minister had earlier met with Singapore's prime minister delivering a message from President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi. Before arrival, the minister was in Malaysia within an Asian tour that has as next destinations Indonesia and Pakistan.
