CAIRO – 13 March 2022: Egypt has anti-COVI-19 doses that are sufficient to vaccinate nearly 42 million citizens, said the Ministry of Health in a statement on Sunday.

"The target groups are from the age of 18 years onwards,” said Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the Ministry spokesman.

Acting Minister of Health Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar is daily following up on infection and death rates, adding that during the past two weeks there has been a decrease in the number of injuries and deaths. He continued that 51% of citizens have been fully vaccinated.

Until Friday, Egypt has reported 497,373 coronavirus cases and 24,277 deaths due to the pandemic since the outbreak of coronavirus started in Egypt early in 2020.

Minister of Higher Education and acting Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar has directed the ministry to issue weekly, instead of daily, reports on the number of Covid-19 infection cases and deaths.
