Egypt receives 12 Russian air-conditioned train vehicles at Alexandria Port

CAIRO – 12 March 2022: The Egyptian Railways Authority has received a batch of new air-conditioned train vehicles as part of the deal of 1,300 cars manufactured by Transmash Holding Company, the representative of the Russian-Hungarian alliance. The batch includes 12 air-conditioned third-class cars.

 

The agreement with Transmash Hewing Company includes the manufacture and supply of 800 first-, second- and third-class air-conditioned vehicles in monthly installments. The agreement also includes 500 third-class vehicles with dynamic ventilation (regular), of which 700 regular and third-class air-conditioned vehicles have arrived so far.

 

The cost of the largest deal in the history of the authority amounts to 1.065 billion euros, to be financed through a soft loan provided by the Hungarian Exim Bank and the Russian Exim Bank, and its supply is planned to be completed at the end of 2023. Regular or dynamic ventilation begins the arrival of air-conditioned vehicles of various types..

 

The Railways Authority installs the service new trains every month within the deal of 1,300 cars, with an average of three new trains per month added to the system.

 

These trains run on the lines of Upper Egypt (Cairo-Aswan and vice versa), Cairo-Alexandria and vice versa, Cairo-Itai Al-Baroud and vice versa, Cairo-Zagazig-Mansoura and vice versa, and Cairo-Ismailia.
