Egypt, Tajikistan presidents agree to cooperate on combating terrorism, organized crime

CAIRO – 10 March 2022: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received Thursday his Tajikistani counterpart Emomali Rahmon at Al Itihadiyah Presidential Palace as they agreed on intensifying coordination in the realm of combating terrorism and organized crime.

In a joint press conference, President Sisi said that relations with Tajikistan have been growing, so as now both countries are examining chances of cooperation in the sectors of modernizing irrigation systems, hydropower, mining, agriculture, tourism, health and pharmaceuticals.

Hence, a number of MoUs were signed between the Egyptian and Tajikistani ministers in the presence of both chiefs of state. President Rahmon stated that Egypt and Tajikistan will establish pharmaceutical factories jointly.

The Tajikistan president added that his country aims to cooperate with Egypt in the sectors of transport, telecommunications, and investment. President Emomali also announced launching a joint business council, whose mission would be bolstering trade between both countries.

The Tajikistani president revealed that he had officially invited President Sisi to pay a state visit to Dushanbe. 

 

The presidency spokesperson told press that the two presidents conferred over developments in Ukraine and Afghanistan, as reported by Al Ahram newspaper.
