CAIRO – 9 March 2022: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi held a phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin Wednesday, exchanging views on the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, whereas the Egyptian chief of state asserted the importance of prioritizing dialogue.

 

President Sisi also stressed backing diplomatic endeavors aimed at devising a political settlement to the crisis, which would in turn preserve international peace and security.

 

In a related context, the president thanked President Putin for paving the way for the evacuation of Egyptian citizens from Ukraine, as indicated by Presidency Spokesperson Ambassador Bassam Rady.

 

Equally, the two presidents discussed cooperation in developmental projects, affirming that Egypt and Russia have historic strong ties and that they have friendship relations on the official and popular scales.
