CAIRO – 24 February 2022: The Egyptian Embassy in Kiev called on Egyptian nationals residing not to leave their homes as the Russian troops launched strikes on Ukraine.

The Egyptian embassy advised nationals in Kiev to keep identification documents and to follow instructions issued by the Ukrainian authorities until the situation stabilizes.

This comes in light of the development of the Ukrainian crisis, the imposition of martial law and closure of airspace as well as trains.

The embassy added - through its page on the social networking site "Facebook" today, Thursday - that it will provide the members of the community with any additional instructions through the site.

The Ministry of State for Immigration and Egyptian Affairs Abroad stated that it is constantly following up on the status of the Egyptian community in Ukraine, and communicating with the heads of the community and Egyptian scholars there, to follow up on developments in the situation.

Russia launched a full scale attack on Ukraine late Wednesday, with smoke been seen above the city.
