CAIRO - 19 February 2022: The Health Ministry said Friday night that 2,053 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed infections since the outbreak in the country began to 465,423.


In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said 52 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 23,632.

As many as 1,983 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 397,218 so far, the spokesman said.

Egypt will hand 500,000 coronavirus vaccine doses to the Palestinian Authority on Sunday in the presence of Egyptian Acting Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and the Palestinian and Chinese ambassadors.

So far, the State of Palestine has reported 565,656 coronavirus infections and over 5,000 related deaths.

In Egypt, a total of 863,384 people has received booster shots, the Ministry of Health said, as Egypt started administering a third coronavirus vaccine shot in December.
