CAIRO – 3 February 2022: Egypt’s Foreign Ministry condemned on Thursday an attack on a camp for displaced people in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

The attack has claimed the lives of dozens of innocent people, including children, the ministry said, extending condolences to the Congolese government and people and to the families of the victims.

The ministry wished the injured people a speedy recovery and affirmed supporting DR Congo in the face of all forms of violence.

At least 60 people were killed in the militia attack against the Congolese camp, Reuters cited the head of a local humanitarian group and a camp resident as saying.

The CODECO militia was responsible for the killings, sources told Reuters.
