CAIRO - 21 January 2022: Egypt received 667,100 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine from Belguim and Germany via COVAX in cooperation with GAVI Alliance (formerly the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation), said Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the Health Ministry spokesman in a statement on Friday.

The Health Ministry would examine the shipment at the laboratories, he added.

This comes within the state's plan to diversify and expand the provision of coronavirus vaccines, in order to preserve the state's gains in addressing the pandemic.

Egypt received, on January 8, 2022, a shipment of one million doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine from Argentina on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

On December 31, 2021, Egypt received a shipment of 347,460 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine via the COVAX Facility.

On 16 January 2022, Egypt received 3 million doses of Pfizer Coronavirus vaccine, provided by the US, through COVAX in cooperation with GAVI Alliance.
