2 weeks into 2022: 60K babies are born in Egypt

CAIRO – 16 January 2022: The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced Saturday that 60,000 babies have been born since January 1 making the population size 102,877,901 up from 102,817,799 on January 8.

 

The most populous governorates among the 27 are the following: 10,100,008 in Cairo; 9,325,934 in Giza; 7,750,397 in Sharqia; 6,936,329 in Daqahlia; 6,732,423 in Beheira; 6,136,988 in Menya; 6,025,871 in Qalyoubeya; 5,554,933 in Sohag; 5,496,840 in Alexandria; and, 5,345,625 in Gharbia.  

 

CAPMAS issues every two years a report on income and expenditure. In its latest released in December 2020, it was indicated that only 7.5 percent of individuals belonging to families composed of less than 4 members are poor, while the percentage for others affiliated to families having 6-7 members is 48.1 percent. As for citizens coming from families whose size is 10 members or more, 80.6 percent of them are suffering from poverty.
