Sisi tackles COP27, Arab and African security, human rights with accredited foreign correspondents in Egypt

CAIRO - 13 January 2022:  President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with the accredited foreign correspondents of international news agencies in Egypt on Wednesday evening, as a part of the activities of the World Youth Forum (WYF).
 
President Sisi was keen to exchange dialogue with the audience, and answer all questions that touched on many vital issues and files, said Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady in a statement.
 
During the session, the President stressed that the World Youth Forum represents an important international platform to open dialogue and meaningful discussion on global issues among young people from different countries and cultures, Rady added.
 
The President also expressed his happiness at the fourth edition of the forum after it had been stopped due to the Coronavirus pandemic, which represented a great challenge to the whole world, Rady continued.
 
President Sisi touched on many key issues related to supporting the security and stability of the Arab and African region, Egypt’s hosting of the United Nations Climate Conference “COP27,”  water security, human rights, and the common economic interests between Egypt and Greece. 
 
In addition, the meeting focused on several issues related to tourism, youth empowerment, education, awareness, media and drama, and the renewal of religious discourse, Rady said.
 
As for the dispute between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia over the controversial Grand Ethiopian Renaissance dam (GERD), President Sisi stressed Egypt's adherence to a binding legal agreement regarding the GERD.
 
He also said that aid that Egypt suffers from water poverty according to international rates in this regard. President Sisi, Rady continued.
