Egypt suspends issuance of licenses for new orphanages for 1 year

CAIRO – 10 December 2022: The Ministry of Social Solidarity issued a decree Monday suspending the issuance of licenses for new orphanages until December 16, 2022.

 

Egypt’s Prosecution issued on Friday a decision to apprehend businessman Mohamed Al-Amin for four days pending investigation in Case No. 188/ 2022 over charges of human trafficking and molesting girls in an orphanage.

 

Security services had been informed that Businessman Mohamed Al-Amin committed crimes punishable by law against a number of girls inside the orphanage that he owns in Beni Suef Governorate.

 

After conducting the investigations and listening to the victims’ complaints, the Prosecution decided to arrest Al-Amin.

 

Al-Amin is a prominent Egyptian Businessman who founded the CBC channels group, Modern network along with the Arab News Agency [AUA], and Al-Nahar TV. He also has been a partner in Amer Group Holding Co.
