CAIRO - 9 January 2022: The Egyptian and US naval forces have conducted joint naval drills in the joint drill in the Southern Fleet in the Red Sea with the participation of the Egyptian frigate “Alexandria” the two destroyers: USS COLE and USS JANSON DUNHAM, said Egyptian Ministry of Defense in a statement on Sunday.

The exercises come in light of upgrading the Egyptian naval capabilities through exchanging expertise with the US forces, the statement said.
 



The training showed the professionality of crews in implementing the combat skills with high accuracy with a special emphasis on joint coordination among various elements.
Egyptian-American relations have recently witnessed a remarkable development, as the recent joint exercises between the two countries reflect the convergence of visions and goals to maintain maritime security and stability in the region as well as guaranteeing the regularity of global economic movement.
In November and March 2021, theEgyptian and American naval forces held joint exercises in the Red Sea. The March drills included Egypt's "Sharm El Sheikh" frigate, and the United States' amphibious warfare ship dubbed USS SOMERSET-LPD25.
