Sisi greets Egyptian Copts on Christmas, says the ‘New Republic’ will be based on dream, work and free of discrimination

CAIRO – 6 January 2022: President Abdel Fattah al Sisi arrived, Thursday at the Christmas Mass in the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in the New Administrative Capital to wish Egyptians a Merry Christmas.

In a short speech, Sisi called on Egyptians to stay united and not to allow anyone to cause any strife between them.

“We started a new path in Egypt which is ‘the new republic path’ that accommodates everyone without discrimination.” Sisi said.

He added: “Do not allow anyone to cause a strife between us, because any difficulties will be eased if we are united.”

In his speech sisi said that the new republic “will be built by all Egyptians” and will be based on “dream, hope, science and hard work”

 

President Sisi prayed to God to protect Egypt, saying: “I pray to God to protect our country and help me to be an honest, honorable servant for it.”

Sisi addressed Pope Tawadros saying that that has a lot of appreciation, love and respect for him and wished him a Merry Christmas.

“You all don’t know how much love, respect and appreciation I have for Pope Tawadros, because real mean is known though hard situations” Sisi said, addressing attendees at the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ.

Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese lead the Christmas Mass for Egyptian Coptic Christians at the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in the New Administrative Capital on Thursday.

Due to Coronavirus pandemic, Pope Tawadros last year did not lead the Christmas Mass and he performed it at the monastery of Anba Bishoy in Wadi Al-Natroun.

The newly-constructed Cathedral, for the first time, opened its gates for Coptic prayers. The mass began at 7:00 pm and will continue until 12:00 midnight.

Security directorates across Egypt have activated their security measures and plans through intensified deployment of forces around churches, and in streets ahead of Christmas celebrations.

 President Abdel Fattah El Sisi greeted Egyptian Copts abroad on Christmas, on Thursday, the state-owned news agency MENA reported.

In a cable of greetings posted by all Egyptian embassies on social media platforms, President also wished the Egyptian expats allover the world a merry Christmas. He also wished that Egypt would realize more progress and prosperity.
