CAIRO – 4 January 2022: The authorities of Cairo International Airport thwarted Tuesday a passenger's attempt to smuggle 313 packages of medicines and cosmetics into the country.

The man, who was coming from Jordan's Amman, was hiding those beneath the liners of his travel bag, and jacket.

The authorities of the same airport foiled in November an attempt to smuggle €88,500 into Egypt by a passenger coming from Rome, Italy.

The passenger is an Egyptian national, who possessed two large suitcases, and a handbag, which aroused the suspicion of security personnel when put on the X-ray device.

A manual screening of the luggage was carried out so as money was found wrapped in clothes, and inserted in shoes.

The passenger was handed the equivalent of $10,000 allowed by law, while the rest was confiscated, while a complaint was filed.
