Egypt reports 801 coronavirus cases, 29 deaths on Sunday: Health Ministry

CAIRO – 3 January 2022: A total of 801 new coronavirus cases were detected on Sunday, upping the total number of confirmed cases reported in Egypt since the beginning of the outbreak to 387,159, according to the Ministry of Health.

In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said 29 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 21,797.

As many as 436 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 321,568 so far, the spokesman said.

In a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Acting Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said a total of 55.6 million coronavirus vaccine doses have been administered so far.

He added that Egypt has been supplied with more than 119 million coronavirus vaccine doses, with about 64.3 million doses still available for use.
