CAIRO – 23 December 2021: The government decided Thursday to mint special one-pound coins in celebration of Police Day marking January 25, and those can be used in financial dealings.

Earlier in 2021, the Cabinet approved offering commemorative silver coins to celebrate two occasions.

In November, the Cabinet approved a draft decision licensing the issuance of a commemorative silver coin, celebrating the 45th anniversary of establishing the Syndicate of the Egyptian Writers Union.

And in April, the Ministry of Finance issued a commemorative silver coin of L.E 100 bearing the Mummies Parade ceremonial logo in Arabic and English to document this exceptional event.

That is in addition to L.E 1 and 50 piasters coins, bearing the same design as the silver coins.

On April 3, 2021, Egypt’s royal mummies were transferred from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat.
