CAIRO - 12 December 2021:  Egypt’s Sharm El Sheikh city will host the Ninth session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption due to start on Monday and lasts for five days.
 
Egypt acceded to the convention in December 2003, believing in the importance of international cooperation to prevent corrupt practices around the world.
 
On the International Anti-Corruption Day, Egypt’s Administrative Control Authority launched English and French versions of its official website to be a gateway for those whoa are interested in corruption issues worldwide by providing anti-corruption strategies, international conventions and local laws in the field of preventing and combating corruption.
 
Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Ghada Waly said that Egypt is keen on confronting corruption amid the coronavirus pandemic. 
 
In media comments to “9:00” Talk Show on the state-owned channel 1, Waly said during the conference a report would be published on corruption in sports and  combating corruption in the health sector when it comes to pharmaceutical industry and infection protection devices.
 
The conference will be attended by 144 countries, 5 heads of state, 50 ministers and 30 heads of anti-corruption bodies around the world, she said, adding that a huge participation by civil society.
