The project is undertaken by a consortium made up of Arab Contractors Company and Orascom Construction PLC under the supervision of the Transport Ministry's National Authority for Tunnels, the ministry said in a press release on Saturday.

The virtual award ceremony was live-streamed from the US on Thursday, the ministry added.

The project has also won two prizes from a British magazine as the best transport project across the Middle East in 2021, along with another local award, which were handed over during a grand ceremony in Dubai on Wednesday.

This phase features a total of ten stations (4 underground and 6 elevated stations) linking the Heliopolis suburb with Adly Mansour, a transition station serving a transport hub and a central station that will connect the New Administrative Capital with neighboring cities and governorates.
