CAIRO - 6 December 2021: South Korean Ambassador in Cairo Hong Jin Wook said on Monday 2021 was a successful year for Egypt and South Korea relations at the political, economic, and cultural levels.

Hong was speaking during a press conference on a survey conducted by the South Korean Embassy in Cairo about Egyptians' knowledge about South Korea in which 3,357 persons took part.

According to the survey’s results, 62% of the participants have a relatively good background about South Korean culture and 61% about the South Korean economy. The survey showed that 92% of all participants have a positive idea about South Korea.

About 4.3% of the participants visited the East Asian nation, while 65% of them look forward to visiting it. Nearly 69% see that the two Koreas should improve their bilateral ties.

Nearly 99% of those surveyed believe the South Korean products are of high quality and 69% of them noted that they have South Korean products, mostly vehicles, mobile phones, and cosmetics.

The year 2021 marks the 26th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Egypt and South Korea. Every year on 15 August, South Korea celebrates its National Liberation Day, but due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the celebration was postponed to 31 October.
