CAIRO - 3 December 2021: Parliament Speaker Counselor Hanafi El Gebali asserted on Friday that climate change issue is an exceptional challenge with several implications, affirming that its rapid confrontation has become obligatory in light of its negative and frequent impacts.
This came at Gebali's word during Seventh Summit of the Speakers’ of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union For the Mediterranean (PA-UFM) held in Brussels under the theme of "Combating Climate Changes in the Mediterranean Region".
Gebali reviewed Egypt's efforts in facing climate change as it has given top priority to this issue, adding that the state exerted efforts with positivity and intensity to face this dangerous phenomenon.
He noted the state has beefed up its cooperation with its Mediterranean partners in order to have collaborated and regional visions facing the climate change and its bad effects on them.
Concluding his word, Gebali affirmed that facing the climate change can never tolerate inaction at all levels but it needed fair and sustained national and regional efforts to deal with it.
He called on the parliamentarians to intensely engage in formulating mutual visions and implementing urgent plans to handle this severe phenomenon.
