CAIRO – 2 December 2021: Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli held a meeting with representatives of major Spanish companies on Wednesday in the presence of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

The meeting with representatives of the companies taking part in the Egyptian-Spanish Business Forum took place to probe their action plans in Egypt.

Companies attending the meeting included FCC Aqualia company, Talgo company, and Siemens-Gamesa company.

Madbouli said the Spanish companies working in Egypt represent an example for success.

Madbouli urged further cooperation with Spanish companies, especially after the announcement of the launch of joint Egyptian-Spanish Business Council.

Sanchez said Spain seeks to advance the competitiveness edge of the Spanish business sector in the fields of water management, renewable energy, agriculture and railways.

Egypt is one of the most important countries in Africa, Sanchez said, affirming that he is confident Spanish companies can mainly contribute to advancing ongoing development process in Egypt.

During Sanchez’s visit, Egypt and Spain agreed to renew the financial cooperation protocol with the Spanish government, worth €400 million.

Trade Exchange between Egypt, and Spain rose 23.8% during the first nine months of 2021, recording €1.961 million, compared to €1.583 million, during the same period of 2020, according to Minister of Trade and Industry, Nevine Gamea.
