CAIRO – 1 December 2021: The closing statement of the eighth ministerial meeting of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) lauded the pivotal role played by Egypt to strengthen security and stability in Africa by housing the headquarters of the African Union Center for Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development (PCRD) launched in November.

The statement also congratulated Egypt on hosting COP27 in 2022, as indicated by the press statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Deputy Minister for African Affairs Hamdy Loza attended Tuesday the meeting held in the Senegalese capital, Dakar, on November 29-30.

Ambassador Loza highlighted Egypt's care to develop cooperation with China in various fields, and reinforce trade and economic integration with Africa. In that context, he underscored the importance of solidarity among developing countries to face the repercussions of COVID-19, and working jointly on technical and scientific capacity-building, including the joint manufacturing of vaccines and drugs, to counter that challenges.

The deputy foreign minister held on the sidelines a bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart discussing fields of joint cooperation within the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership between both states. They also stressed the necessity of continuous coordination between Egypt and China over regional and international affairs of mutual interest.
